Abstract Audiovisuals

My name is Clément de Bellefroid. I am a photographer, videographer, electronic music composer and DJ based in Belgium.
Building on a decade of experience as a dedicated landscape and travel photographer, my recent photography expeditions and macro experiments have inspired a transformative shift towards abstract audiovisuals.
This evolving focus has driven me to pursue a professional career centered around a unique aesthetic that I continue to refine daily.

My eye is increasingly drawn to the details of a scene, the unexplored perspectives and unusual patterns and textures. I strive to ignite curiosity, driving viewers to explore and interpret my art in their own unique way. My objective is to transcend traditional depictions of reality and offer a unique glimpse into the unseen world.

Ōra

Ōra is an ambitious audiovisual project that brings together music, film and photography. It was born out of a growing passion for fluid dynamics captured with a macro lens - what I call “Macro fluids”.

What started as an experimental terrain for macro photography quickly turned into an obsession for creating miniature worlds like I had never seen before. As my photo and video libraries grew bigger and bigger, it became clear I wanted to dedicate my time to building a special project around abstract macro fluids.
Then the idea of bringing music into the mix came naturally and I eventually decided to make an audiovisual album.

In Latin, Ōra primarily means a border, edge, shore, limit or boundary.

To me, it is the liminal space between abstract and concrete, a metaphor for the idea that everything that surrounds us has an abstract character to it, that abstraction is everywhere all the time, that we’ve always felt it and unconsciously noticed it but that we might never have truly acknowledged it.

11 soundtracks, 11 video clips, 11 photos

I wanted to create something that truly comes to life when experienced both with the eyes and the ears, but that can also speak to individuals who are either more into music, movies or photography.

Given my background as a photographer holding Fine Art exhibitions, it was important to me to also create a physical collection for the album. I decided to capture one photo per track that will be available as limited edition Fine Art prints after the album release.
Each track on the album carries a certain mood that is reflected in the colour, texture and shape of its photo and video counterparts.

My vision for the finality of this project is to put together an event that ties it all together: an exhibition for the photography side of the project followed by a DJ set presenting the full album in its audio and visual entirety.
