Who am I?
My name is Clément de Bellefroid. I am a photographer, videographer, and music composer based in Belgium.
Building on a decade of experience as a dedicated landscape and travel photographer, my recent photography expeditions and macro experiments have inspired a transformative shift towards abstract audiovisuals.
This evolving focus has driven me to pursue a professional career centered around a unique aesthetic that I continue to refine daily.
My eye is increasingly drawn to the details of a scene, the unexplored perspectives and unusual patterns and textures. I strive to ignite curiosity, driving viewers to explore and interpret my images in their own unique way. My objective is to transcend traditional depictions of reality and offer a unique glimpse into the unseen world.
Who is Silent Layer?
In 2017, my love for electronic music drew me to start composing my own musical universe.
In parallel with producing dancefloor-oriented music at first, I quickly became a DJ and started playing in front of small crowds. While it wasn’t yet clear what direction the music was going to take, I already knew I wanted it to play an important role in my life.
Fast forward to now and the big picture has become clearer. My ambition is to merge my diverse artistic disciplines into one coherent project: Silent Layer.
Silent Layer is the artist name I use for my abstract audiovisuals work.
While abstract art is often associated with visual art, I find electronic music to have an equally interesting abstract potential - a potential that, in combination with meaningful visuals, can be amplified to ignite powerful emotions.
Drawing on my experience as a music composer and videographer, I've created the original soundtrack for my first short film Contemplation, and I’m currently composing for my latest project Ōra which you can view on Instagram and YouTube.
💡 In today’s technological climate, it is important to mention that my work is not affected by generative AI (artificial intelligence).
I stand against AI-generated art. My work comes to life in the real world and it always will.
